Nokia implements new features for S60 on Symbian OS. S60 will introduce new features that enhance the user experience on S60 devices, and allow manufacturers, developers and carriers to design new types of mobile devices and applications and services.

S60 touch user interface comes with support for tactile feedback, which means that there is a physical pulse and feedback when the user taps on the screen. This provides better awareness of the device’s response.

These technologies will be available to all manufacturers in 2008.

Symbian collaborats with google?

Symbain, said on Wednesday, that it could expand its collaboration with Google Inc. This collaboration is to grant free and open access to its software platform.

“We already work together and so whatever collaboration, if there is an opportunity, we will be happy to collaborate with them,” Symbian chief executive Nigel Clifford told reporters in Tokyo.

“And that could be on the application level or that could be on the more fundamental operating system level.”

Symbain currently uses google services for its applications, like maps and search enggines.

Nokia will contribute Symbian’s assets to a new not-for-profit organization, Symbian Foundation, in which it will unite with leading handset makers, network operators and communications chipmakers to create an open-source platform.

Symbian grows 10

Its the time for celebration. Symbian celebrates TENTH anniversary this month :D

Symbain was born as a software by Psion’s, which later turned out to be our very own Symbian. Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola and Psion were the original share holders of Symbian. It has then made a history.

The initial 150 employers worked out of the affectionately remembered ’sweetshop’ building, an unassuming block located in Harcourt Street, London.
